Deep Silver by TheCrobot Deep Silver by TheCrobot
Yet another one of my mermaid designs. I was really happy with how the foreshortening on the legs and arm turned out in my sketch of her, so much so that I decided to color it.

When I was originally developing my design for mer-people, Zoras were a major part of the inspiration. Or course, I left room for my mer people to be much, much more colorful.

They're unique organs that sense aquatic depth, assist with orientation, and sense vibrations in the water. Their ears are internal and behind the tendrils. Also their oilfactory glands are in their mouths.

Wow you really think these thinks through. Roles reversed my answer probably would have been 'tentacles that look cool'.

I also have descriptions for how they functionally swim fast, how they alternate between gills and lungs, how their society is structured, a good 700 years of historical lore, and of course -- why females have breasts yet no nipples.

Haha that last one is actually a good point, given that I'd imagine they're sired from eggs as self sufficient creatures.
